I really enjoyed the articles we read this week as I have experienced plenty of stress through grading on our campus. The article “Why I Don’t Grade”, by Jesse Stommel makes me feel like others have the same problem’s as I do with grades. I don’t believe grades should “emotionally harm” others as I have had lots of counseling issues with grading’s impact on my mood and self esteem. I personally enjoy writing much more than exams as I feel they let me show my knowledge in a way that doesn’t stir up my anxiety. Even with the issues that rubrics may create, I prefer them much more over a crunch timed exam.
